Information Warfare Officer (IWO) Practice Test

The main idea here is that each fleet has a defined geographic Area of Responsibility to plan and execute operations within. For the Third Fleet, that area is the Eastern Pacific Ocean. This means their waters span from the U.S. West Coast down along the Americas and eastward into the central Pacific toward Asia. That geographic focus is what distinguishes it from the other fleets’ regions.

The Western Pacific is the realm of the Seventh Fleet, the Atlantic Ocean maps to the Second Fleet, and Central Pacific isn’t listed as the Third Fleet’s AOR. So the Eastern Pacific best matches the Third Fleet’s traditional responsibility.
